How to Make a Crown Canopy for a Toddler's Bed: 6 Steps
Edit Article

A crown canopy can complement any princess' special room.

Crown canopies are a perfect accessory for a little princess' bedroom. Making your own crown canopy can save money, and you can design the perfect one for your little girl's room. The crown can be as decorative as you want. Let your toddler add her own special touch by adding jewels and other embellishments. Additionally, this money-saving project is a simple one that doesn't require sewing.

EditSteps

  1. 1
Measure the distance down from the ceiling to the point you want the crown to hang. Next, measure from that point to the floor.
  2. 2
Cut your tulle to the same measurement you just measured, from the crown to the floor. You will need several panels of tulle. You can use all one color, or mix it up; pink, purple and white look very girly together. You can even use tulle that has sparkles in it.
  3. 3
Take the embroidery hoop apart. These come in two pieces that fit together in a circle, so you just need to take them apart. Run a line of hot glue around the inside of the larger circle. Before the glue dries, stick the end of the tulle pieces to the glue. Only go around about three quarters of the hoop. If you go around the hoop all the way, it will reach over the bed, which isn't safe for your toddler. Be careful with the hot glue; the tulle is thin, so the hot glue can burn you.
  4. 4
Cut four ribbons about 6 inches longer than the measurement you took from the ceiling to the placement of the crown. Glue one end of one of the ribbons to the hoop. The ribbon is going to be used to hang the hoop, so make sure you glue it in the opposite direction that the tulle is hanging. Glue the other three ribbons to the hoop, equally spaced around it. Tie the top of the four ribbons together in a large bow.
  5. 5
Run another line of glue around the inside of the outer hoop, on top of the tulle and ribbon ends. Put the inner hoop back inside the out hoop, gluing them together. This will secure the entire crown together.
  6. 6
Screw a hook into the ceiling and hang the crown from its ribbons. Arrange the hanging tulle so it drapes behind the bed.
