Cupcake decorating is a fun way to pass the time with children.
If there is one thing kids love, it's cupcakes. But why just feed them a cupcake when you can turn it into an activity by letting the kids decorate their own? When working with preschoolers and toddlers, it's usually best to let them decorate a pre-made cupcake so they don't become bored or frustrated with the baking process. A pre-made cupcake kit will give your little ones everything they need for some tasty fun!
1Wash and dry one plastic food storage container for each child.
2Place a cupcake or two inside the container.
3Fill the smaller containers with frosting and cover them with a lid, using multiple colors and flavors for variety.
4Place the frosting containers in the larger container next to the cupcake.
5Fill baggies with sprinkles, candy, and/or other edible toppings and place them in the large container.
6Place a few craft sticks inside the large container for spreading the frosting.
7Decorate the outside of the containers with stickers to make them more colorful.TipsMake sure the cupcake recipients enjoy the cupcakes within three days.Let cupcakes cool completely before placing them in containers to avoid excess moisture.
- Cupcake decorating can be a messy activity, so supervise your young children. When making kits for toddlers, avoid any edible toppings that they could choke on.
