If you're expecting an important call that you don't want to go to voice mail but are unable to answer, you can forward your calls to a phone number where you'll be able to answer. This feature is available if you have Verizon's wireless, FiOS Digital Voice or residential landline service. To forward your calls, dial a code and the destination number for wireless or landline phones or go online to set up call forwarding for either wireless or FiOS.

    Wireless Phone with Phone: Press "*72," the digits of the phone number to which you want to forward calls and press "Send." For example, to forward your wireless phone to phone number 800-555-1212, press *728005551212 and "Send."

    Listen for a confirmation tone or message that confirms you have successfully forwarded the phone.

    Press "End" to return to the dialing screen.

    To cancel call forwarding, dial "*73" and press "Send."

    Wireless Phone Online: Navigate to the Verizon website and log in to your account (see link in Resources). Navigate to the "Account Features" page and click "Call Forwarding."

    Click the selection box under Mobile Number and choose the phone you want to forward. Enter the phone number to which you want to forward calls in the box labeled "Forward Mobile Number to."

    Click "Set Up Call Forwarding" to begin forwarding your calls.

    To cancel call forwarding, navigate to the Verizon website, log in to your account, go to the "Account Features" page, click "Call Forwarding" and click "Cancel Call Forwarding."

    FiOS Digital Voice: Navigate to the Verizon website and log in to your account (see link in Resources). Click "Account Manager," click "Calling Features" and then click "Call Forwarding."

    Enter the phone number to which you want to forward calls in the box labeled "Forward My Incoming Calls to."

    Click in the selection box to choose either "Forward All Numbers" or "Forward Calls Only from Certain Numbers." Enter the phone numbers for which you want to forward calls if you selected the latter.

    Select the "Forward Calls According to a Schedule" check box if you want to forward calls during specific times of the day. Enter the schedule parameters and click "Add Schedule."

    Click "Activate Call Forwarding" to begin forwarding your calls according to the options you selected.

    To cancel call forwarding, log in to your Verizon account, click "Account Manager," click "Call Forwarding" and then click "Cancel Call Forwarding."

    Residential Landline: Pick up the phone so you hear a dial tone. Press "*72" on a touch-tone phone or dial "1172" on a rotary phone.

    Listen for a tone and then press or dial the number to which you want to forward your calls.

    Answer the phone and listen for two beeps to confirm that your calls are being forwarded.

    To cancel call forwarding, pick up the phone so you hear a dial tone and dial "*73" on a touch-tone phone or "1173" on a rotary phone to cancel call forwarding. Wait for two short tones that confirm you are no longer forwarding calls
