Whether you're on the go or just kicking back and relaxing, listening to music can relax or motivate you like few things can. The SanDisk Sansa series of MP3 and video players lets you listen to your favorite music virtually anywhere without disturbing others. With a Sansa player's internal memory drive, Windows detects and configures it when you connect the player to a PC, making adding new music from your computer relatively simple. However, adding tracks from your favorites CDs to Sansa player requires a few additional steps.Using Windows Media Player.

    Insert a music CD in the optical drive of your computer and close the disc tray. Click "Start," "All Programs" and then "Windows Media Player." After Windows Media Player opens, click the "Rip CD" button on the toolbar.

    Click "Rip Settings," “Format” and then "MP3." Click the “OK” button and wait for Windows Media Player to save the music tracks from the CD in MP3 format to the Music Library folder.

    Connect the data cable to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and an empty USB port on the computer. Power on the SanDisk MP3 player and wait a few seconds for Windows to recognize it and configure it as a Portable Media Player in Windows Media Player.

    Start Windows Media Player again if you closed it after ripping tracks from the CD. Click “Create Playlist" and wait for a new “Untitled Playlist” entry to appear beneath the Playlists section of the Navigation Pane in the Windows Media Player window. Rename the "Untitled Playlist" to the album title of the CD or another descriptive name and then press “Enter” to save the name change.

    Click the “Music” link in the Navigation Pane. In the Music library folder window, select the MP3 tracks you ripped from the CD to highlight them and then hold and press the "Ctrl" key as you drag and drop the MP3 files onto the new playlist name you created in the Navigation Pane.

    Click the new playlist name in the Navigation pane and click the "Sync" button in the Windows Media Player window. After the list of detected Portable Media Player devices appears, click “SanDisk Sansa MP3 Player.” Click the “Start Sync” button to transfer the music tracks from the computer to your Sansa MP3 player.

    Unplug the USB cable from SanDisk MP3 player and the PC when Windows confirms that file transfer was successful and prompts you to disconnect the cable.

    Select "Music" on the SanDisk player home screen, then select or tap the new playlist name you downloaded from the computer. Press the "Play" button and listen to MP3 audio files you ripped from the CD.Dragging and Dropping

    Rip music from the CD you want to add using Windows Media Player and save the tracks to a folder on your computer.

    Tap “Settings” on the Sansa MP3 player's main menu screen, then tap “USB Mode.” Tap “MSC (“Mass Storage Class”), then “Select.”

    Connect the Sansa MP3 player to the computer with the USB cable, then wait a few seconds for Windows to detect and configure the internal memory card in the player as a removable storage device and assign it a drive letter in Windows Explorer.

    Click Start, then "Computer" to open Windows Explorer. Double-click the drive letter assigned to the Sansa MP3 player memory card by Windows.

    Press "Ctrl-N" to open a second Windows Explorer window. Navigate to the folder where you saved the MP3 tracks you ripped from the audio CD.

    Highlight all of the tracks you ripped from the CD. Click and hold the left mouse button and then drag them to the Windows Explorer window displaying the memory card contents of the Sansa MP3 player.

    Close both Windows Explorer windows, then disconnect the Sansa MP3 player from the computer. Use the Sansa player to listen to the tracks normally.
